Recycle Bin

The Water Department is now your main point of contact for recycle bin exchange and distribution. You can fill out your form and email to
  • Bin Exchange
  • New Owners
  • Bin for Business
  • Refuse Collection Instructions
  • Recycling is every other week on your garbage collection day.
  • Bin Exchanges will be done when the current bin is empty.
  • Billing

    Billing is quarterly by district. The Town is divided into 3 districts.
    Water bills are mailed on the 10th of the month for your district.


      You can now pay some of your town and county fees on line by clicking the appropriate link below.
    • You're Wheatfield Water
    • You're County Tax Bill
    • License fees, marriage, dog, certified documents etc.
      Additional fees will be applied when used.

    If you choose not to mail your payment, it can be taken to the Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall (2800 Church Rd.) or you can use the drop box located at the front entrance of Town Hall. Cash, check or money orders are accepted.


    Inspections are required for the sale and transfer of property within the Town of Wheatfield.
    The fee for the inspection is $30.00 made payable to the Town of Wheatfield Water/Sewer Dept.

    Water Meters

    Electronic water meters are mandatory for all residential and commercial properties in the Town of Wheatfield.

    Fire Hydrants

    Per local law, homeowners are not permitted to plant anything within 5 feet of a fire hydrant this includes snow piling. The steamer cap on the front of each hydrant is color coded to identify the size of the water main supplying it – do not alter these steamer cap colors.


    Required to have signed form for each tenant that wants billing in their own name. Landlord signature must be signed in office or notarized.
    The application fee is $25.00 made payable to the Town of Wheatfield Water/Sewer Dept. and billed to the tenant.


    Electronic Waste

    Effective April 1, 2011 E-waste can be dropped off Mon-Fri between 9am-4pm. Items accepted: computer equip., misc. electronics, TV sets. Not accepted: AC units, fluorescent bulbs, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, batteries, kitchen/personal appliances.
    Note Picture ID as proof of residency is now required

    Summer Help

    In May maintenance on outside grinder tanks and fire hydrants will be started.


    Call “811” to request a locate of underground infrastructure.

    • 16 sanitary sewer pump stations and 650 grinder pumps maintained
    • the Town services, maintains and repairs 120 miles of water lines and 140 miles of sewer lines
    • staffing – 1 department head, 1 crew leader, 7 maintenance staff and 2 office staff
    • all maintenance staff are subject to 24-hour call out, 365 days a year

    Water Quality Report
